    Bowling Stuff

    Friday, November 16, 2007, 08:57 AM [General]

I have been so busy with regular life and getting on with bowling that I haven't been logging in and updating.

I have put myself into a new place with my bowling and I like it!!!

I am managing to average over 210 in both my leagues at two different houses.  Changes your perspective on the game though.  I used to be happy if I bowled 600.  Now, I want more!!!

Threw 15 in a row Tuesday, just started it in the second frame of the first game.  Ended with a 290.  Then shot 233 and the infamous, I got tired and couldn't carry game of 190.

     Have a great week bowling.

    this week

    Saturday, September 1, 2007, 08:26 PM [General]

I am bowling two leagues this year, both handicapped.  Monday night I didn't bowl real well due to the first night and taking on the secretary duties. 559 was my series.  I will rebound!!!

Tuesday night I am starting off great, 237, on a 236 pace going into in the 10th.  I leave a solid nine pin first ball in the 10th.   As I sort of smack at the balls and pick up my space ball, a team mate says, "why are you using that?"  Instead of thinking about and being confident with my shot.  My mind is questioning my ball decision.  Things like "I always throw this ball."  "should I be throwing this ball"  Obviously, you can guess that I didn't pick up that nine.  Ended with a 216.  This ball decision nags me for next four frames.  Lesson learned - I need to figure how to forget the comments of others and concentrate inside on the shot at hand.

I can't be too upset with my series, but three solid dueces would have been cool too.

    Have a great week.

    Ethical Question

    Saturday, August 11, 2007, 10:15 PM [General]

So here is my ethical question. I want your opinion  I have been bowling the last two years in nationals with a really nice guy.  Unfoturnately he has decided that he doesn't need to bowl leagues or practice.  We always go into the tournament with him bowling "cold".  I told my team that I really haven't minded bowling with him but that I wouldn't bowl with him this year if he didn't practice or bowl in a league during the year.  Am I right in making that stiuplation.

This year is going to be tough enough as it is with the Open being on a Sport condition.  I have put a lot of effort this year in improving my game and my summer averages show that the work is paying off, 219 in scratch league and 215 in handicapped league.  I think if I have a determined teammate and doubles partner, that we could at least cash.

    Your thoughts?

    Frustration

    Friday, July 27, 2007, 09:04 AM [General]

I am not normally the whining kind, but last night was a huge night of frustration. I bowl in a scratch league and it is match play. I have been bowling great this summer, averaging 221. We are scheduled to bowl the last place team. Highest average on their team is a 203. Sounds like a good night to make up some ground on first. Guess which team decides not to show up and bowl last night. You got it. The team we are bowling. Instead, we have to bowl against our own averages. This is where having a 221 average and a bad night just doesn't mix.

The lanes were squirrelly is the best I can say. You could see the ball slide, roll, slide again and if you were lucky maybe roll again. Needless to say, this is not a condition conducive to high scores. The times that I did hit the pocket with all my might, I left an 8 pin or even that illustrious 7-10.

My lovely scoring last night of 194-200-217-179 (7-10 on last ball) didn't work out very well.
Let's hope that next week we can pull some luck our direction and rebound.

    thursday Night League

    Friday, June 29, 2007, 06:14 PM [General]

Have you ever had one of those leagues, where just everything seems to be going right.  I bowl on a Scratch League on Thursday nights.  We use a four game match play format.  I have been bowling out of my mind.  In 9 weeks of bowling I have had 6 900+ series, 1 800+ and 1 700+ (high Seven).  I have never in my life after 9 weeks of bowling carried a 223 average.  It is insane.  The wave has been great, but I am afraid of the crash.  What amazes me is that I am bowling equally well on my other league at a different bowling center.
It is boosting my confidence to bowl the Women's Open.  I am going to practice on the PBA patterns Sundays and see how it goes.
Here's hoping everyone has a good week bowling.
